About the Kelly & Poppa Lou Friends & Family Golf Classic

The Kelly & Poppa Lou Friends & Family Golf Classic was first played as the "Poppa Lou" following the passing of Lou Parsons in 1995 at the suggestion of Bart Leverich and Jerry Cross as a tribute to his friendly family spirit.

The Poppa Lou Golf Event was organized to be fun for all ages of golfers by using a "scramble" format with a celebration party following each event.   Over the years the event has increased in popularity, in great part due to the hospitality of the Blackhead Mountain Golf Club and the Maassmann Family who recognized the unique focus of the event on families and having fun.

From the start music has helped make the Poppa Lou a special event.  Family members have pooled their talents to provide musician entertainment to those sharing in the celebration that the Kelly & Poppa Lou Golf Classic has become.

Every year friends and family look forward to getting together for another Kelly & Poppa Lou Golf Classic and enjoying a day living the spirit of Lou Parsons in sharing golf, music, good food and friendship with friends and family.
